Selous Luxury Safari, 3 Days

This 3 Days/ 2 Nights Selous Serena Luxury Camp Flying Safari is a brief wildlife safari that begins in Dar es Salaam to the southeastern Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania within a remote less visited section of the country. The Selous Game Reserve is just 200 km west of the city of Dar-es-Salaam and just one hour flight.

There are daily flights to Stieglers Airstrip from Dar es Salaam in only 45 minutes flight one way. Flights coming from Zanzibar, Seronera as well as Arusha are available. It is only 30 minutes drive to Selous Luxury Camp from Stieglers Airstrip with a game drive along the way.

Day 1: Dar-es-Salaam – Fly to Selous National Park, Tanzania

just 200 kilometers West of the city of Dar es Salaam is the great Selous Game Reserve which is the largest wildlife National Park in the whole of Africa. It is 4 times bigger than the Serengeti and covers over 5% of the total land area of Tanzania, and bigger than Switzerland.

River Rufiji which is among the mighty rivers in East Africa feeds this reserve. The river drains most of the water from Southwestern Tanzania and provides a source of water to more than 1,000,000 huge mammals that live within this park including half the elephant population of Tanzania.

Selous has more than 2,100 different types of plants, 350 bird species, 60,000 elephants, 108,000 buffaloes as well as an approximated 1,300 of the estimated 4,000 surviving rare wild dogs in the world, offering guests a chance to see all of these amazing animals in an un spoilt wilderness. Day 2: Explore Selous National Park

Following breakfast you will have a variety of activities such as Game drive, Walking Safari or Boat Safari. The park has huge numbers of elephants with Approximately 70 % (which is 60 000) of the total number of elephants in Tanzania living here.

Among the commonly known animals living in the reserve are about 40, 000 hippos that live in the river systems, lessening numbers of black rhinos, large buffalo herds of more than 160 000 individuals, the wild dogs for which the park is renowned and about 5 000 lions moving around the Reserve.

In addition, are the Nyasaland gnu, reed buck, brindled gnu, leopard, zebras, hartebeest, cheetah, Greater Kudu, wildebeest, sable antelope, giraffe, elands, bushbucks, waterbucks and warthogs, which are rare.

It has more than 350 bird species including the African snipe, Knob-billed duck, Southern Ground hornbill, Bateleur eagle, geese, Crested lark, kingfishers, herons, and Green-headed oriole. Reptiles like crocodiles plus different types of lizards plus snakes can be seen.

Day 3: Selous National Park – Dar-es-Salaam

Following breakfast, have a Walking Safari, Game Drive or Boat Safari, have Lunch and then return to Dar es Salaam to arrive in the late evening by air.
